This organic Sencha comes from a single tea estate in Chiran, Kagoshima — one of Japan’s most renowned tea regions. It is made from the Saemidori cultivar and undergoes particularly deep steaming using the Fukamushi method.

As soon as the package is opened, it releases a fresh, clear aroma. In the cup, it produces an intense green infusion with a rounded, smooth taste, full body and fine, lively astringency.

The first infusion is balanced and full-flavoured. With a further infusion, the fine leaves reveal a gentler, more nuanced side.

Fukamushi Sencha — particularly deep-steamed

In Fukamushi processing, the tea leaves are steamed for longer than conventional Sencha. This gives them a particularly fine structure and produces the infusion’s characteristic intense, deep-green colour.

The result is a balanced, smooth taste and a pleasantly rich, intense infusion with fine, lively astringency — characteristic of deep-steamed Sencha from Kagoshima.

Brewing Guide

Infuse 2–3 g of tea with 200 ml of water at 80 °C and steep for approximately 2 minutes.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from light. Seal carefully and airtight after opening.

Tip

Adjust the water temperature and steeping time slightly to suit your personal taste profile. A lower temperature highlights the tea’s smooth, mild character, while a longer steeping time increases its intensity and astringency.

Usage

Also enjoyable chilled: allow the freshly brewed tea to cool and serve it on its own or over ice.
